Background Information:
Attached please find a memo from Darbie Johnson regarding NSF checks at
the Hastings Family Aquatic Center and the issues NSF checks present.
With the introduction of Visa/MasterCard in 2006 and for the 2007 season, and
the introduction of stored value cards along with Visa/MasterCard, we would
like to recommend that after June 15, 2007, checks no longer be accepted at the
HFAC.
This policy would minimize NSF checks and staff time attempting to collect
NSF checks.

Re: NSF Checks ai HFAC
For the past 8 years the Hastings Family Aquatic Center has accepted personal checks
as a form of payment for admission, concessions, season passes, etc... Each year we
have our share of NSF checks, however during the 2006 season we accumulated the
greatest amount. I find this very disturbing considering we also made available the
option to pay with credit card. Our check use went dramatically down, but
unfortunately our NSF amount went up. With this obviously increasing problem, I
would like to recommend that the HFAC no longer accept personal checks as a form
of payment.
To make the transition easier for patrons, I am recommending that we accept personal
checks as a form of gayment until June 15, 2007 as to have ample time to notify
patrons that we will no longer be acxepting personal checks.
Please take this recommendation into consideration and contact me with questions or
