Holmes, Fire Chi DATE: April 2, 2007 SUBJECT: Request for Approval of Out-of--State Travel Approved at the February 5, 2007, city council meeting, the city entered into an agreement with Principal Decisions Systems International (PDSI) to adapt software for the purpose of maintaining automated fire personnel availability. Included as a condition of the agreement, PDSI would work with the fire department to configure its existing programs to allow for the specific needs of our department. As outlined by the agreement, the degree of difficulty configuring software would be determined and a decision would be made regarding the need for fire department representation to work with PDSI staff at their facility in Irvine, California. After several lengthy teleconferences, PDSI has determined that the needs of the fire department would best be met by having on-site representation by the city. Prior to entering into the contract, I discussed this possibility with City Administrator Dave Osberg and we agreed to schedule this trip after determination of needs. I am requesting that the Fire Services Offtce Manager Penne Schuldt and a Firefighter/Paramedic skilled in this area attend the configuration set-up meetings. Your approval would allow for airfare and four days travel expenses. Funding for this program was included in prior years ERF contributions and would be available for this project. Requested Action: Approve travel and expenses necessary for two fire department staff to participate in the necessary program configuration meeting in Irvine, California May 28 -June 1, 2007.
