HomeMy WebLinkAbout20070521 - VIII-C-1VIII-C-1 MEMORANDUM TO: Honorable Mayor and City Councilmembers FROM: Dave Osberg, City Administrator DATE: May 17, 2007 SUBJECT: Reschedule June 18, 2007 City Council Meeting and Schedule Special Workshop Session RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION It is recommended that the City Council take action changing the 2°d meeting in June from the regular date of Monday June 18, 2007 to Tuesday June 19`", 2007; and to schedule a special workshop session at 5:30 PM that same night to discuss, among other topics the 2005 Council-Staff goals report. BACKGROUND Changing City Council Meeting Date: For a number of years a cross section of City Councilmembers, Staff and others have participated as a foursome during the annual Chamber of Commerce golf tournament. As a result of our participation, the Chamber of Commerce staff and others have commented on how much they appreciate the representatives from the City participating in the golf event, dinner and awards. This year, the annual golf event, dinner and awards are scheduled for Tuesday June 18`", 2007 at the Hastings Country Club. Thus, the request to move the City Council meeting from Monday June 18`", 2007 to Tuesday June 19`", 2007. Tentative representatives, (using the term "represent" very loosely), include Mayor Hicks, City Councilmember Elling Schultz, Assistant City Administrator Melanie Mesko Lee and City Administrator Dave Osberg. Special City Council Workshop: The City Council may recall that Apri130, 2007 was once set as a special City Council meeting date for discussion of the Council-Staff goals established in November, 2005. For a variety of reasons, the date became a problem, and thus no special City Council meeting was conducted, and as of yet, the meeting has not been rescheduled. Rather than attempt to schedule another night away for the members of the City Council and City Staff, Mayor Hicks and I are suggesting the City Council consider gathering prior to the meeting contemplated for Tuesday June 19`", 2007 and meet at 5:30 PM. Staff would make arrangements for something to eat, and the earlier workshop session would of course need to be completed by 7:00 PM, in time for the regular~[y Council meeting, David M.
