The messages posted on the EMB are intended to change frequently. Intent/Putpose The primary intent of the EMB is to provide general information regarding upcoming city events and activities. A secondary feature of the EMB may be to communicate local non-profit community organizations' events and activities taking place within the City of Hastings. Displaying a Message There will be no cost to display a message requested by a registered and recognized community non- profit organization, if approved by the City. Proof of non-profit status is required. A private organization may make a request to post information on theEMB to promote a community event. If approved by the City, a $50/ day fee will be charged. In order to have your organization's event displayed on theEMB, the City of Hastings policy on the posting of events must be followed. The information postedlllust present content that can be categorized as "community" information. In general, this would include: · Governmental and educational institutions · Generally recognized community civic organizations · Non-profit organizations providing infontIation about art, cultl.lral, and recreational activities in the city · Organizations providing information about touristatttactions in the City The City will not allow postings Jor: · Businesses, unless said business is run by theOty or otherwise fits the criteria noted above · Churches, s)'IJ.~()gues, mosques, or other religious or spiritual facilities or entities · Candidates for local, state, orfederal offices · Political organizations or other organifations ",hose primary mission is advocating a position on or conducting. discussions of local, state, qrJederal political issues · Corp6rate6r6ther for-profit organizations unless they fit the criteria noted above · Pornographic or offensive materials Applications to display a message may be a.pproved if they are consistent with this policy and if the applicant provides the information requested on the application form. No political, opinion, or commercial messages may be posted at any time. The City reserves the right to edit the proposed message for clarity and consistency. Special graphics and logos are not permitted. The City will attempt to fulfill requests for displays on the EMB, however, the City reserves the right to prioritize the length and time a message is displayed. The number of individual messages per day may be limited. The City will give first priority to City information and events. Other events will receive priority on a first-come first-served basis. No temporary signs may be posted on the EMB. The City reserves the right to edit the content as deemed necessary. Messages will appear no more than two weeks prior to the actual event date. Application Process All requests for non-profit or private use of the EMB must be submitted at least seven working days prior to when you wish to have the message begin to be displayed.
