Council is request to adopt the enclosed resolution ordering the replacement of the existing YIELD sign on Louis Lane at its intersection with Southview Drive with a STOP sign. After a single car accident at the intersection this winter, residents petitioned for the installation of an all-way STOP at the intersection. City Engineer Nick Egger conducted a thorough review of the intersection, including collection of traffic counts, traffic speed data and the accident history at the intersection. Nick's analysis of this information resulted in a determination that warrants for an ail-way STOP were not met. However, his review also determined that the sight lines at the intersection did not meet YIELD sign requirements. Accordingly, staff is recommending that Council order the replacement of the existing YIELD sign with a STOP sign. Last month, area residents were mailed a letter detailing the results of the Engineering study of the Louis Lane and Southview Drive intersection. c~xY o~ x~sT~rGs DAKOTA COUNTY, MINNESOTA Resolution No. RESOLUTION ORDERING THE REPLACEMENT Ok' THE EXISTING YIELD SIGN ON LOUIS LANE AT THE SOUTHVIEW DRIVE INTERSECTION WITH A STOP' SIGN WHEREAS, the Hastings City Engineer has preformed a thorough review of the Louis Lane and Southview Drive intersection and has determined that the sight line requirements for a YIELD sign on Louis Lane are not met, NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HASTINGS AS FOLLOWS; City staff is directed to replace the existing YIELD sign on Louis Lane at the Southview Drive intersection with a STOP sign.
