Award Contract - 2007 Cal Ruedy Public Works Facility Office Expansion
Bids were opened for the 2007 Cal Ruedy Public Works Facility Office Expansion
on Thursday, September 13, 2007. There were 15 bidders, reflective of a very competitive
bid process. The low bidder is Construction Results Corporation at a cost of$I,343,000
including the heat recovery system alternate bid; which was about $100,000 under the
estimated construction cost. I've enclosed a copy of a letter recommending award from the
architect, Dean Johnson ofTKDA.
Enclosed for Council approval is a resolution awarding a contract to Construction
Results Corporation which also contains a provision waiving the City's charges for sewer
and water access fees, but requiring payment of the building permit fee and Metropolitan
Council Sewer Access Charge.

City of Hastings
Project 13725b.000
Dear Mr. Montgomery:
Bids were received at City Hall at 2:00 PM on Thursday, September 13, 2007 for the above
referenced project. Bids were received from seventeen general contractors.
We have reviewed the bids and met with the apparent low bidder (Construction Results) and
recommend that the City of Hastings accept the Base Bid ($1,318,500) plus the Add Alternate
($24,500) for an awarded total amount of $1,343,000. The add alternate represents the addition
of a mechanical heat recovery system to the project.
In our opinion, the recommended award amount is within the project budget; our estimate was
$1.44 million for this phase of the overall project.
If you have any questions, please give me a call.
Sincerely,
Dean A. Johnson, AlA, CSI
