HomeMy WebLinkAbout20071105 - VI-11VI-il MEMO To: Honorable Mayor and City Council From: Tom Montgomery Date: October 31, 2007 Re: Engineering Department Budget Transfer -Storm Water Management Plans The City is required to prepare a Storm Water Management Plan to conform to the newly adopted Vermillion River Watershed Management Plan. In addition, a storm water chapter is required as part of the City's 2008 Comprehensive Plan. The 2007 Budget contained $25,000 to fund preparation of part of the two plans in 2007, and an additional $25,000 is requested in the 2008 budget. The original proposal to prepaze the storm water management plan and the storm water comprehensive plan came in at $85,000. Staff has negotiated the original proposal down to $62,500, in part by taking a more active role in plan preparation and assuming responsibilities for conducting coordination meetings with HEP, open houses, and council presentations, and printing and distributing hard copies of the draft and final plan. The revised proposal amount s#iIl exceeds our budget, and the late start on the plan prepazation process will push the majority of the costs for plan prepazation into 2008. Staff is requesting a budget transfer from the 2007 Engineering budget into the 2008 Engineering budget, transferring $15,000 from the 2007 Expert and Consulting budget line item and transferring an additional $20,000 in unspent FT Salaries to the 2008 Engineering Department Expert and Consulting budget line item to cover the storm water management and comprehensive plan preparation. COUNCIL ACTION REQUESTED Council is requested to approve budget transfer from the 2007 Engineering budget into the 2008 Engineering budget, transferring $15,000 from the 2007 Expert and Consulting budget line item and an additional $20,000 from FT Salaries to the 2048 Engineering Department Expert and Consulting budget line item to cover the storm water management and comprehensive plan preparation. _. ^..
