SUBJECT: Police Fleet Vehicles/Excess Property
VI-4
MEMO
The Police Department has received its three new squad cars, which are currently the last
ones being outfitted and put into service. Two of the vehicles that were in our fleet have
been requested to be used by other City Departments.
The first vehicle is a 2003 Crown Victoria, our vehicle number 0301, with approximately
88,000 miles on it. This will replace the old squad that was transferred to the Parks
Department several years ago, which is currently having transmission problems. That
vehicle will come back into the Police Departmen# and be auctioned off as excess property.
The second vehicle is a 2004 Crown Victoria, our vehicle number 0403, with approximately
86,000 miles on it. This was requested by Chief Schutt of the Fire Department to replace
the squad that they had taken several years ago to the Fire Department, our vehicle
number 0302. That vehicle will come back into the Police Department and it will be
auctioned off with the o#her vehicles once it is determined to be excess property.
The Police Department would also like to replace a 1995 K1500 pickup, our vehicle
number 0401, which is currently being used by Officers assigned to the Drug Task Force,
with a 2000 Pontiac Bonneville which the Police Department has received through a DUI
forfeiture. This vehicle currently has 89,000 miles. The vehicle being taken out of service
has in excess of 130,000 miles.
The Police Departmen# also received through forfeiture a 2005 Yamaha Bruin 250 ATV.
We would like this vehicle to be considered excess property so it could be put out for
auction.
We ask the Council to declare the following as excess property to be sold by sealed bid.
Vehicle # 0301 2003 Ford Crown Victoria
Vehicle # 0403 2004 Ford Crown Victoria
Vehicle # 0302 2003 Ford Crown Victoria
Vehicle # 0401 1995 Chevrolet K1500
Forfeiture 2005 Yamaha Bruin 250 ATV
As done in past years, we also request that any proceeds from the sale of these vehicles
be transferred into the new vehicle account to pay for new equipment for squads.
If you have any questions feel free to contact me. Thank you.
