Our consultant Hoisington Koelger Limited received quotes from several contracting companies. The information regarding costs for this project ranged anywhere from $11,000 to $60,000 over the consultants estimate ($47,000). The lowest bidder price range was $57,703.11. I felt this price was too high and exceeded our grant contribution. I discussed this issue with the consultant and the NRRC and we would like to propose the following adjustments: • Remove the derrick (savings of $6,000) (need to have an alternate for interpretive sign $1,200) • Adjust the entry to the platform by removing gangway and replacing with cement runway (cement runway approx. $1000) • No spotting scope (savings of $3500) • No drift log seating (alternative is a donated bench seat) With the elimination of these features, the price of the redevelopment of the project was reduced to $42,300.57. This price does not include the architect/engineer fee of 12,000 and a contingency of $5,000 for a total price of possibly $59,300.57 I am seeking City Councils authorization to enter into an agreement with Blackstone Construction Company who was the lowest bidder on this project.
