HomeMy WebLinkAbout20080407 - VI-05vT-s MEMO To: Honorable Mayor and City Council From: Tom Montgomery Date: April 1, 2008 Re: Authorize Water Department Budget Adjustment for Purchase of Replacement Air Compressors The Public Works Department has two portable small air compressors; one purchased in 1975, the other in 1979. The State Inspector recently inspected the two air compressors and informed us that the air compressors were no longer up to state code and could not be certified. Our options are to modify the existing tanks by installing a pressure relief valve and lowering the operating pressure of the tanks, or purchase new air compressors. Given the age of the two air compressors, I am recommending replacing the two air compressors. Replacing the two air compressors will cost a total of $925. The 2008 Public Works budget did not include funding for this replacement; however the purchase of two pickup trucks for Utilities came in about $12,000 under budget. Council is request to approve a budget adjustment for the Water Fund allowing the purchase of the two replacement air compressors from the Capital Outlay budget. ~. ;~ _... ~' crrY o~ ~s~ruvss
