Hastings City Hall
101 East 4th St.
Hastings, MN 55033
Dear Mayor Hicks and Council Members:
As in previous years, the Hastings Area Chamber of Commerce & Tourism Bureau will
be submitting a Rivertown Days agreement to the City Council for the July 7th meeting.
We ask that you declare Rivertown Days, July 17 - 20, as a special event for the City
of Hastings. This will allow for special vendor permits to be issued.
The Rivertown Days Committee would like to have a beer garden as part of the event
using similar guidelines for the defined area as was used in 2007. This allowed more
flexibility for festival attendees to carry their beer between the food vendors, music
stage and other events. The area will be single fenced and will not be restricted to
individuals over the age of 21. Wrist bands will be required to purchase alcohol.
Given this scenario, no changes are necessary to the ordinance.
No outside coolers will be allowed in the defined area after 6:00 p.m. The possible
hours for beer sales will be from 5:00 -10:30 p.m. Friday; 3:00 -10:30 p.m. Saturday
and very limited sales on Sunday. This will be worked out with the beer vendor, who
we anticipate will be the Jaycees.

Due to the bridge repairs, we are taking extra precautions to not disrupt traffic flow. The
parade and any other events will be cleared through the Police, Fire and Streets
Departments. Again this year, Rivertown Days will be utilizing city parks for some of
the events, and we appreciate all of your assistance in making Rivertown Days a great
event for our community.
If you have any questions or concerns about any of these events, please feel free to
contact me at 651-437-6775. Any other new events are taking place on private
property and should not affect the City.
Sincerely,
Michelle Jacobs, President
Hastings Area Chamber of Commerce & Tourism Bureau
