Re: Approve 2008 Budget Adjustment to Fund East 4th St. Gravel Road
Improvements
Funding for re-gravel the mile long East 4th Street gravel road was cut from the 2008
Street Budget request. Council is requested to approve the following budget adjustments
and funding proposal to fund the estimated $10,000 cost to place new gravel surfacing on
this road.
Funding Option # 1:
AT&T has contacted the City about leasing space at the 4th St. water tower for
wireless antennas. Our annual lease fee is $20,500. If we can complete an agreement by
July, the new AT&T lease agreement will generate about $10,000 in revenue in 2008 that
was not accounted for in the 2008 budget. Council is requested to utilize any 20081ease
revenue from new wireless antenna leases for the $10,000 East 4th Street gravel cost.
Funding Option #2:
Should the City and AT&T fail to enter into a lease agreement in 2008 or the
20081ease agreement payments be less than $10,000, Council is requested to transfer
scrap metal payments (estimated at $1,500) and the sale of an excess Public Works van
(estimated at $2,500) towards the East 4th Street gravel project. If additional funds are
needed, Council is requested to approve a transfer from the Water Fund from the funds
remaining after the purchase of two Utility Department pickup trucks.
