Re: Declare Hot Mix Patch Trailer Excess and Authorize Transfer of Excess
Equipment to Hastings MnDOT Truck Station
Last year, Public Works replaced our hot mix asphalt patching trailer with a new
truck mounted patch box. Council is requested to adopt the enclosed resolution declaring
the old patching trailer excess.
Council had previously declared a 10+ year old one way plow excess. The
MnDOT Hastings Truck Station has expressed interest in both the Public Works old
patching trailer and the one way plow. Through networking with our equipment contacts,
Public Works has not been able to generate much interest for sale of the 22 year old
patching trailer or one way plow. Scrap value for the patching trailer is estimated at $700
and $500 for the one way plow.
I am recommending that Council authorize the transfer of the patching trailer and
one way plow to the MnDOT Hastings Truck Station. Public Works and the MnDOT
Truck Station have a very good working relationship assisting each other as needed. In
2006 and this year, the MnDOT Hastings Truck Station has arranged for a MnDOT
screener and operator to be brought to the Public Works yard for a week to screen our
bituminous millings, sealcoat aggregate and compost. The cost for the City to rent a
screener with an operator for two weeks would be over $5,000.
