HomeMy WebLinkAbout20081006 - VI-07VI-7 MEMO To: Honorable Mayor and City Council From: Tom Montgomery Date: September 30, 2008 Re: Resolution -Install STOP Signs on Eddy Street and Spring Street at 10`'' Street Council is request to adopt the enclosed resolution ordering the installation of STOP signs on Eddy Street and on Spring Street at their intersections with 10`h Street. Commenting on the street and utility construction project, a resident requested the two STOP signs. The Minnesota Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices lists as one of the STOP sign warrants, "Intersection of a less important road with a main road where application of the normal right-of--way rule would not be expected to provide reasonable safe operation "and "Street entering a through highway or street ". With 10`h Street classified as a collector street with high traffic volumes, these intersections meet the warrants for installing STOP signs to stop Eddy and Spring Street traffic at 10`h Street. CITY OF HASTINGS DAKOTA COUNTY, MINNESOTA Resolution No. RESOLUTION ORDERING THE PLACEMENT OF STOP SIGNS ON EDDY STREET AND SPRING STREET AT THEIR INTERSECTIONS WITH 1 OT'' STREET WHEREAS, the Hastings Public Works Director has preformed a thorough review of the intersections of Eddy Street and Spring Street with l Oth Street, and has determined that the following Minnesota Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices minimum traffic warrants are met for the installation of a STOP signs on Eddy Street and Spring Street at their intersections with 10th Street: Intersection of a less important road with a main road where application of the normal right-of--way rule would not be expected to provide reasonable safe operation. • Street entering a through highway or street. NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HASTINGS AS FOLLOWS; City staff is directed to install STOP signs on Eddy Street and Spring Street at their intersections with 10th Street.
