Chapter 30.04 -Economic Development Commission
REQUEST
The City Council is asked to hold a public hearing on the attached amendment repealing
Hastings City Code Chapter 30.04 -Economic Development Commission.
The City Council considered first reading and ordered a public hearing at the November 17,
2008 meeting. The Ordinance would become effective on January 1, 2009.
BACKGROUND
Economic Development activities will be assumed by the HEDRA -Hastings Economic
Development and Redevelopment Authority on January 1, 2009. The Economic
Development Commission would no longer be necessary.
HISTORY
The Economic Development Commission was established in January, 2003. The EDC
expanded assumed management of Industrial Park activities and began economic
development planning through out the City of Hastings. The EDC assisted with the
development of many new Industrial Park businesses and prepared the Vermillion Street
Development Guidelines. EDC members have been invited to the December 15t" City
Council meeting to be recognized for their achievements.

BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Hastings as follows:
Chapter 30.04 of the Hastings City Code is hereby deleted in its entirety.
