The minutes of the last meeting were read and ap?roved. No treasurer's report was given. Committee Reports: Research and Documentation: - Hazel Jacobson reported on the status of her combined car and walking tour book. Don Eddy moved that Hazel Jacobson continue in her efforts to update and verify data for the new combined book and that she proceed to apply for grant money to fund the project. Dick Fuchs seconded, and it was carried. Historic Tours: Hazel Jacobson also reported on giving two tours to the Pinecrest Elementary ~th graders on May 24. An unscheduled tour was given to a group of Wisconsin visitors by Hazel in early June. Glenca Schnirring reported doing a tour for the Waseca Community Education class on May 23. This group spent from l0 a.m. until ~ plm. in Hastings visiting Lock & Dam 2, Dakota Co. Government Center, and the Historic Bus ~our. Historic Sites: It was announced by Hazel Jacobson that official notice had been received by the city naming to the National Register the Latto House, the Thompson-Fasbender House, the Gospel Assembly Church, and the Howes Graus House. It was reported that the city is waiting for the nomination of the Downtown Historic District, and that the MacDonald & Mack Pa~ership would like a "letter of intent" naming them officially as the firm which will be doing the drawing concept of the building exteriors. Hazel Jacobson made a motion that the MacDonald & Mask Part- nership be sent a letter from the liastings Preservation Commission engaging them to began work on the Downtown Historic District as soon as it is named to the National Re~ister. Don Eddy seconded the motion and it was carried. Glenda Schnirring was delegated to compose the letter sad send it a~ the earliest date. Hazel Jacobson reported that $3500 had been forwarded to the city of Hastings in anticipation of Downtown work but it was now known at this time if and where that amount would be. Mike Landis of the Minnesota Historical Society had indicated that this money had been sent in order that the downtown work could began. Further investigation on this matter was going to be done. Hazel Jacobson reported that she had replied to a request by the Natural Resources Commission which had asked that information to be included on the sign for Vermillion Falls Park be authentic. With no further new business, meeting adjourned at 9:lSp.m.
