City Council Chamber PRESENT: Florence Petersen, Vern McGree, Carla Reichenberg, John Grossman, Hazel Jacobson, Jim Abbott I. CALL TO ORDER: 8:17 P.M. II. MINUTES OF LAST MEETING Jim Abbott read the minutes of the last meeting, two corrections were made, and they were approved as corrected. III. OLD BUSINESS a.) Mural Project Jim Abbott reported that a raffle is being held to raise money for the project. The prize is a trip to Karl's Hotel-Casino in Sparks, Nevada. b.) Courthouse Art Jan Ostberg is chairing an "art committee", which is selecting art for display in the Courthouse. Other Committee members are Hazel Jacobson, Carol Erickson, and Florence Petersen. c.) Rivertown Days Courthouse tours are being included in the Rivertown Days Festival, being chaired by Margaret Goderstad. Also, a reception is being held, during tke Festival, for Courthouse restoration volunteers. It was moved by Vern McGree to approve an expenditure of $70.00 for the rental of a tent for Rivertown Days. Seconded by Carla Reichenberg. Motion carried. IV. COMMITTEE REPORTS a.) Research Hazel Jacobson reported on her involvement in the selection of paint color for the Courthouse. She also reported that the Barker House is being donated to Dakota Village. b.) Ordinance Review Commission This Co~uittee consists of John Grossman, Andy Klimek, Margaret Brown, Jim Abbott, Chip Gerlack, Merlin Wilbur, Gary Brown and a representative from the City Attorney's office. The Committee's task is to review the ordinances governing the Preservation Commission, and recommend appropriate ammendments. The question of voicing formal support for the for- mation of a society was discussed, but no action was taken. OTHER BUSINESS a.) Regional Preservation Meeting A letter had been received from the Red Wing Heritage Preservation Commission, inviting participation in a September 18th regional Preservation meeting. b.) Preservation Funds ,. State and Federal funds are available for various purposes, such as publications, etc. John Grossman, Hazel Jacobson, and Vern McGree will prepare an application for funds to publish a combined car and walking tour.
