Petra has asreed to be the new Secretary b~inning with the April meeting. The minute8 of the December 28, 1983 meeting were corrected, and approved as corrected. Correspondence fro~ Murphy's Landin~ and the Preservation Alliance of Minnesota ms d iscu seed. Petra will help with HeritaEe Hall. A committee should be formed to take inventory. Jim reported on the Mural Committee. An Art proceeds will go towards the mural project. May 1 as the cutoff. They are not sure what deadline could be extended. Auction will be held on April 29. Some They are currently securin~ funds, with form the mural will take; the May 1 There was discussion re~arding the $238 left from the Rivertown Days money. The oristnal intent of the money allocated was for historic photo e~hibit. A motion was made by Hazel Jacobsen, seconded by Vern McGree, that we have an index file of 5 x 7 pictures of every picture we have, to be paid out of the $238, and any other pictures we see fit historically for City of Hastings for display as well as the Commission's own use. Motion carried. Pat Kelso will handle the LeDuc Mansion Tours for Rivertown Days July 28-29. Having a free handout of pictures and articles assembled by Hazel was discussed. HaZel and Florence will handle the new Courthouse Tours for Rivertown Days. They are both on a co~mittee for ~ictures for the courthouse (our pictures there on loan). Hazel will~~o~our, Jan Ostberg will get tour guides. Money will go toward fram/z~ and enlargin~ pictures for the courthouse. Kay Rsissner will handle the exhibits of what used to be in the tent, which will now be in the new section of the courthouse. J/m suggested pottins a sisn outside the courthouse. Jan Oetberg'will be asked to work on this. Jim and Florence are on the Main Street Task Force. The head of the Main Street Project, John Gros~ln, spoke resardtnS the project. He suEgested we review the ordinances, alter or amend the wording, and suggested we ask for review authority over buildin~ permits for local historic sites. If the Commission is willing to pursue this, he is willing to help. Fairly simple chan~es have to he made. A motion was ~ade by Pat Gfldemeister, seconded by Hazel 3acobsen, that the Hastings Historical Preservation Commission will initiate a process of ordinance review. Motion carried. A motion ms made by Hazel Jacobsen, seconded by Vern McGree, that we start work on a local resister of historic~sites, those declared nationally and other local sites. Motion carried. Mr. Grossnan suggested that we confront the ordinance change first. Study ordinance, study our tactics, talk to local propexty owners, go slow and cardul, before recommending as local historic site, do some of the other homework.
