HomeMy WebLinkAbout05-29-1986HASTINGS HERITAGE PRESERVATION COMMISSION Minutes of the Meeting of May 29, 1986 Members present: Malm, Peterson, Jacobsen, Goderstad, Simacek, Hoeschen Members absent: Olson The meeting was called to order by Chairman Simacek at 7:30 p.m. 1. Peterson moved and Goderstad seconded approval of the minutes of February 5, 1986. For the motion:six; opposed: none. 2o Building Permit for 118 E. 2nd St. by Harry Schoen After a hearing attending by Casey Schoen, Jacobsen moved and Peterson seconded approval of the design. The design was found to comply with the guidelines for alteration or addition to an existing building in that no original materials would be destroyed and in that the design for replacement materials and design would be compatible with the original structure and the district. Building permit to be released. For the motion: six; opposed: none. Review of proposed design for restoration of 312 E. Second by Dr. Robert Ghanz. Blueprints prepared by Architect Tom Blanck of St. Paul were reviewed. Although the building is not inside the historic district, design approval will be required by the HRA for its interest reduction program. The only exception to the design was the remodeling design for the front of the adjacent modern building also owned by Dr. Ghanz. The commissioners agreed that it appeared to be more Federal than Victorian. Jacobsen moved and Malm seconded approval of the design with the above reservation. The work to be done on 312 E. Second Street would not remove or destroy original materials and would reveal and enhance the the original design. For the motion: six; opposed: none. 4. Peterson moved and Malm seconded adjournment at 8:15.
