Building Permit for 118 E. 2nd St. by Harry Schoen
After a hearing attending by Casey Schoen, Jacobsen moved and Peterson
seconded approval of the design. The design was found to comply with
the guidelines for alteration or addition to an existing building in
that no original materials would be destroyed and in that the design
for replacement materials and design would be compatible with the
original structure and the district. Building permit to be released.
For the motion: six; opposed: none.
Review of proposed design for restoration of 312 E. Second by Dr. Robert
Ghanz.
Blueprints prepared by Architect Tom Blanck of St. Paul were reviewed.
Although the building is not inside the historic district, design
approval will be required by the HRA for its interest reduction program.
The only exception to the design was the remodeling design for the
front of the adjacent modern building also owned by Dr. Ghanz. The
commissioners agreed that it appeared to be more Federal than Victorian.
Jacobsen moved and Malm seconded approval of the design with the above
reservation. The work to be done on 312 E. Second Street would not
remove or destroy original materials and would reveal and enhance the
the original design.
For the motion: six; opposed: none.
4. Peterson moved and Malm seconded adjournment at 8:15.
