Hastings Arts &Culture Commission Meeting Minutes
Wednesday, September 10, 2025 –6:00 PM
Hastings City Hall –Volunteer Room
1.Call Meeting to Order
Meeting called to order at 6:00 p.m.
Present: Chair Hollenbeck; Vice Chair Read; Commissioners Kapping,McCoy,McNeally;
Economic Development Coordinator Menke
Absent: Maner, Wagner
2.Approval of Agenda
Commissioner McCoy motioned to approve the agenda as presented; Vice Chair Read
seconded.
Motion carried.
3.Approval of Minutes –August 13, 2025 Regular Meeting
Vice Chair Read motioned to approve minutes as presented; Commissioner McNeally
seconded.
Motion carried.
4.Bills/Budget
Menke provided an update on the 2025 budget as it stands along with the projected and
actual spend for the year.
5.BUSINESS
a.Cultural Roundtable Recap
Commissioners reviewed the discussion points from the September 3rd Cultural
Roundtable. It was felt that the conversation was productive and provided different
insights than the Art’s Roundtable. Highlights included discussions about how to better
incorporate the voices and experiences of community members that represent
different groups.
6.Reports + Information
a.Civic Arena mural update
Menke provided an update on the status of the Civic Arena mural project. The plan is
to install it in October or November
7.Adjourn
Commissioner McCoy motioned to adjourn at 6:24 p.m. Seconded by Commissioner Kapping.

6:00 p.m.in the Volunteer Room at City Hall.
