Minutes of the Meeting of September 19, 2000
I. Quorum: Thorsen, Simacek, Sovik-Siemens, Langenfeld, Coutu and Warg.
Il. Minutes of August 15 and September 6, 2000. Simack moved, Sovik Siemens seconded
approval; motion carried.
III. Review of building permits or design proposals.
Ray Bowar, 213 Sibley Street. Riviera Theatre, E. Second Street District
Request to remove the doors on the right side, install a wall and a plate glass window of one pane.
The existing office space was built inside the former doors, leaving them in place, but it is not
weather proof nor particularly good looking. Request windows for proposed apartment on the
second floor be extended to 3' wide. The existing windows are 2' by 4'. Last fall HPC approved
lowering the bottom of the window by 4" and adding 4" to the width.
Coutu moved, Simacek seconded approval of window and door modifications; motion carried.
IV. Unfinished business:
LeDue Forum. Meeting arranged at First Presbyterian Church at 7 p.m. on September 21.
Budget. City Attorney advised that HPC cannot make grants with City levy funds. Funds will be
retained but directed to other projects including recognition, plaques and signage.
V. New business
Preservation awards. Langenfeld and Coutu volunteered to form a committee to organize
preservation awards by next spring.
VI. Adjournment. Warg moved, Langenfeld seconded adjournment; motion carried.
