The estimated funding of $44,879 would be allocated towards assessment abatement. Hinzman shared the CDBG funding is intended to fund activities for low and low\moderate income individuals including affordable housing, anti-poverty, and infrastructure development. Like previous years, CDBG funding would be allocated toward providing assessment abatement for local public infrastructure projects which would allow qualifying homeowners to reduce or eliminate their assessment. Council discussion on appreciation for the funding opportunity for residents. Council posed questions on how residents can apply for assistance and the number of households the funding can assist. Hinzman indicated our engineering staff notifies residents of the program. Hinzman shared if the residents meet the income requirements, they can work directly with Dakota County Community Development Agency (CDA) staff. Hinzman anticipates the funding could benefit 6 – 8 households, depending on the average abatement. Councilmember Haus motioned to approve as presented, seconded by Councilmember Leifeld. 7 Ayes, 0 Nays.
