II. Review Arts Commission’s Proposal for mural on exterior of Civic Arena 6:05 p.m.
a. Chris Jenkins, Sports and Recreation Director
Jenkins provided an overview of the proposed artwork that would be installed on the West exterior
wall of the Civic Arena. This project was reviewed by the Arts & Culture Commission. Because this
mural will be on a Parks & Recreation Building, Jenkins felt it should also be reviewed by the PRC
and give feedback to the ACC and City Council.
Jenkins stated that staff has also reviewed the proposal. Overall the concept was well received. Staff
would like to make sure there is lighting as the Arena is primarily used in the winter when daylight
is limited.
Commissioners discussed the proposal. They would like to see some type of inclusion for figure
skating and agreed it should have lighting, but liked the proposal.
III. Department Updates 6:30 p.m.
Director Jenkins provided brief updates on a number of current projects including Lake Isabel, Lake
Rebecca, Lions Park Shelter, Trail Wayfinding, Civic Arena and Veteran’s Park.
