MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF APRIL 20, 1999
1. Roll. Commissioners Simacek, Goderstad, Siemens, Warg and Smith present. Meeting called
to order by acting chair Smith.
2. Minutes. Meeting of March 16, 1999. Motion by Simacek, second by Siemens to approve;
motion carried.
3. Bills. Motion by Goderstad, second by Simacek to approve; motion carried.
Landscape Research $1,500 - 4th monthly payment on CLG grant project
Capital - $197 - copier monthly service rate
Minn. Historical Soc. - $20.00 - membership
Midwest Photo - $74.20 - photos for Pioneer Room
BT Office - $1,676.63 - filing cabinets for Pioneer Room
Laser Sharp - $44.73 - printer cartridge for Pioneer Room
4. Review of building permits or design proposals.
Committee report on review of new construction at 212 E Second approved.
5. CLG Recording Project. Commission reviewed new draf~ forms with Carole Zellie.

Guardian Angels School 1934. Consideration of adding this property to Old Hastings
District for Tax Act purposes.
6. New business.
a. Annual training. Ms. Siemens and Ms. Coutu may be able to attend the Annual
Preservation Workshop on May 15.
b. Hastings Historical Society: planning a public birthday reception for Hazel Jacobsen
for June 5 at City Hall.
c. Membership. Heidi Langenfeld will be invited to interview for appointment at the May
meeting.
7. Staff & Committee Reports.
a. Mr. Darsow's Hastings Archives grant application under consideration.
b. Register 16 - 20 historic properties under way.
c. Record designations on rifles per Council dkection in progress.
d. Recommend hardship ordinance language to Council soon.
e. Recommend conservation area to Council with Historic Preservation chapter of
Comprehensive Plan.
f. E~ah[ish some form ofre¢ogn/tion program with plaques this year.
g. Prepare a guide for property owners, publish next year perhaps as next CLG contract.
