Adjourn Page 1 of 2 Hastings Arts & Culture Commission Meeting Minutes Wednesday, December 11, 2024 – 6:00 PM Hastings City Hall – Volunteer Room 1. Call Meeting to Order Meeting called to order at 6:03 p.m. Present: Chair Hollenbeck; Vice Chair Read; Commissioners Maner, Tribe and Wagner; Economic Development Coordinator Menke, Community Development Director Hinzman Absent: Commissioners Humphrey and McCoy 2. Approval of Agenda Vice Chair Read motioned to approve agenda as presented; Commissioner Wagner seconded. Motion carried. 3. Approval of Minutes – November 13, 2024 Regular Meeting Commissioner Wagner motioned to approve minutes as presented; Commissioner McCoy seconded. Motion carried. OLD BUSINESS 4. Subcommittee Updates a) Policy & Procedures Update on Muralist List for Resource Page Commissioner Maner created a list of muralists within the greater area. Menke reiterated that this list cannot be given out to the public and questioned the purpose of the document. A discussion was had about the desire for a database of artists and who should own that. b) Finance & Fundraising Menke provided an update on the budget as it stands and looking forward into 2025. The largest budget expenditure is projected to be the Civic Arena mural project. c) Outreach & Communications No updates NEW BUSINESS 5. 2025 Work Plan The Commissioners, with assistance from Staff, discussed the goals for 2025. The projects were divided into three overarching goals which Menke will put into a document. The next steps will be for the Commission to review the document and provide edits, feedback, and prioritize the items at the January meeting so that it can be submitted before the February 1st deadline. Announcements Menke provided an update on the contract negotiations with Lili Lennox for her work on the Hastings Civic Arena mural. The contract and proposal are slated to be presented to City Council on January 6th. Commissioner Tribe was recognized for her service as she steps down from the Commission. Her service is greatly appreciated. 8. Adjourn Vice Chair Read motioned to adjourn at 7:30 p.m. Seconded by Commissioner Tribe. Motion carried. The next Arts and Culture Commission meeting will be held on Wednesday, January 8, at 6:00 p.m. in the Volunteer Room at City Hall.
