First order of business was the report of the sign committee <Iœrpen,
Chairman, Siebrecht, Baller) regarding the proposed signs wi. thin the City
of Hastings:
1.
The three proposed signs between the Hastings K.C.
Hall on H\.1y. 61 and the Red Wing Cutoff Road - Approved.
2.
Tne proposed Peavey Mill identification sign at '19th
Street - Approved.
3.
The proposed sign at lath & Vermillion St. - Not Approved.
4.
The proposed sign at 15th & Vermillion St. = Not Approved.
5.
The proposed Northwestern Bank sign on top of the Bahls
Youth Center Building - Approved, hut td.th no blinking
signs or movement to distract traffic.
It was moved by 501eim and seconded by Nelson that the Commis.,ion accept
the sign committee's report for a trial period of three years. HaoJever,
this motion was amended aa ml>ved by 'J:ruax and seconded by Bauer that tbe
Commissil>n ask that the City Atto~~ey check upon the legality of the
proposed three~year trial period. . Both motions were cerried by the
Comm1esion.
There was no committee report regarding the Raven Homes request.
Mr. Bill Dolan of the Dolan Engineering Company representing the Leonard
Bauer Plat presented a preliminary plat design.
Also, Mr. Tony Kramer, presented a plan for s multiple (h~,lling at Spring
Street and 16th St.
Both presentations were given to a committee (Truax, chairman, Karpen,
Fluegel) for further study.
The Olson Greenhouse plan was referred to the previous study committee
of Moen, chairman, Siebrecht and Karpen.
Numerous guests were present to hear Mr. Frank Balcerzak, Chairman of the
Mankato ACT (Active Community Thought) Committee regarding his thoughts
and suggestions pertaining to the fostering of a community's future
progress thru active citizen participation and community pride.

MEETING NonCE
There will be a regular meeting of the Hastings Planning Commission
on April 3, 1968 at the Hastings Library Meeting Room. A business
meeting will start at 7:00 P.M. and the r,.gular meeting will start
at 8:00 P.M.
The regular meeting will be devoted to the Central Business District
and its relation to the preliminary discussion plan as proposed by
Mr. Hodne, our City Planning Consultant. Many Central Business
District merchants will be invited to attend and express their
thoughts regarding the ar~a.
To aid the group in realizing the problems before it, Mr. Frank
Balcerzak, Chairman of the Mankato ACT (Active Community Thought)
Committee will be a guest speaker thru the efforts of Mr. J. Richards
of our Chamber of Commerce.
